Re: Innovation Plan Proposal - Building a Culture of Blending Learning in
Classrooms
Dear Mr. Chucker and Mr. Ihedigbo,
COVID-19 has been tough on everyone, especially teachers and students. Educators everywhere
are trying to adapt to the effects of COVID-19. To do that, we need to find better ways to engage in and outside of the classroom when providing educational materials to our students. The everyday culture of teaching requires a change. It is essential now more than ever that we create a blended learning culture so students can be better equipped with the routine of using their technology effectively when it comes to
their learning environment. My students have expressed that they would like to use their technologies
more in and outside of class because they struggled to use them during the pandemic. Harmony has the opportunity to build a blended learning culture that will assist our students in their learning process.
We have seen and heard from our students that they struggled academically during the pandemic.
As we adapt to coming back to school full-time, it is time to allow teachers to provide
individual and small group instruction. Giving students an unprecedented opportunity to receive
an education tailored to their individual needs is the goal. We must help them learn how to learn. To gain from blending learning, we must create a robust blended learning culture.
I propose developing a blending learning program that will have goals and protocols for
creating a blended learning culture. It's about rethinking instruction and effectively managing
innovations over time. Students and teachers will use the technologies they already have with the new implementation. The blended-learning models developed will be crisp and clear, evident
in our classroom culture. When our culture has formed, students will autonomously do what they
need to do.
I am asking to pilot this in my classroom with processes which are:
-
The flipped classroom model -
Students use their school laptops to watch my lectures, but when they come to class, we have engaging discussions about the course and do activities with my support.
-
All students' work will be online to access anytime.

-
-
Online assessments -
I will place their quizzes or test on the school's learning management system so students can receive immediate feedback, whether face to face or online.

-
-
Group Assignments -
Students will meet in class or online and discuss their group assignments. By doing this, students will engage with their classmates and develop solutions.

-
Following these blending learning processes will benefit my students and the school by having more engaged students, giving back students learning motivation, and better preparation and feedback
for students and teachers. Students will follow this routine blending learning model through
their education at Harmony, creating our blended learning culture.

I'm asking for your support as I move forward with developing a blending learning culture in
my classroom and our school. Blending learning models can be routinely practiced in all classrooms, making it easier to build our school's blended learning culture. Students and teachers
will benefit from regular classroom teaching to a blended learning model.
I ask you to support this proposal by letting my class exemplify the blending learning classroom culture. After my findings, I would like to get more teachers to follow a similar
blending learning model in my course and keep adding teachers as the positive results
show in the classrooms. I know that Harmony wants to provide the best learning environment
for students, and with this blending learning culture, we will be the best of the best.
Sincerely,
Brandy Dinkins
