WHAT'S YOUR WHY

Building Blended Learning Culture Classrooms

Why – We believe that classrooms need to be equipped with blended learning tactics to give educators, students, and parents the resources they need to deliver on the vision of a highly effective, engaging, and equitable educational experience for every child every day.

How – To do blended learning successfully, we create student-centered learning environments using technology to support it effectively.

What- Empower students to think independently, critically, and effectively while giving teachers skills to personalize education in a 21st-century technology-driven world.

As I wrote down my "Why," "How," and "What" statements, I followed Dr. Kotter's advice of "Win over hearts and minds" (Kotter, 2011). My "Why" information is, "We believe that classrooms need to be equipped with blended learning tactics to give educators, students, and parents the resources they need. Our tactics will be a highly effective, engaging, and equitable educational experience for every child, every day." I want to reach the hearts of administrators and teachers because we want our students to learn from this. Blending learning will bring back the true passion of teachers who come to a school to make a difference in the world through teaching. It wins the minds of administrators and teachers because it provides our students with the most effective learning experience, reflecting the desired results we want to see from our students. Blended learning will also result in our school being one of the top academic achievings in our district when implementing my building blended learning culture innovation plan.

My "How" statement states, "To do blended learning successfully, we create student-centered learning environments using technology that can support it effectively. As teachers, we go into a classroom with the idea that students learn what we are teaching, but this is far from the truth. Since we are not using blended learning effectively in our classrooms, we are not giving our students the best learning environment to succeed. As I stated before, our teachers want to give students the best opportunities to learn using our current classroom technologies. In addition, Dr. Kotter talks about role modeling in his video. I must show administrators and teachers that blended learning is achievable in a classroom. I will provide data and the experiences of other teachers who have used blended learning already in their classrooms. As I continue to advocate for my students to have a blended learning environment, I will bring along others who see the need for the change.

To follow up on my "How" statement is my "What" statement. My "What" report states, "Empower students to think independently, critically, and effectively while giving teachers skills to personalize education in a 21st-century technology-driven world." When we give students the ability to learn for them or learn in their learning styles, it can help personalize education for each of the unique students you teach while making lessons more effective. It gives students the skills to develop their technology skills to use in the real world. Students will realize that technology is the way of the world, and it is a benefit for them to use it. As teachers and administers, we want to see our students become grown and successful individuals. When we see that students succeed, we have a sense of happiness, achievement, and all worth it; it takes on a sense of urgency to realize we have a problem in our classrooms with our students not receiving the best opportunity to learn. Blended learning is our time to make the difference we have vowed to make to our students. I believe I have captured the hearts and minds of my teachers and administrators.
