Instructional Design Online Learning

In the instructional design course, I could record and illustrate how I make a compelling design of a significant learning environment for my 3rd-grade students. As a 3rd-grade math teacher, I discussed how I would adopt the blended learning approach for my young students and the importance of using this method when designing instructional material. Also, I explained how the constructivism learning theory affects my teaching approach. In addition, I was able to create a map that would help me to ensure blended learning was being executed correctly in my lesson plans for my students.

As part of this course, I had to make an instructional design video to present my instructional design process to create a significant learning environment.

In addition to making an instructional design video, I also did an implementation video on how I built out or implemented my course modules in a Canvas course I piloted for my organization. I built out an Introduction module and two learning modules for this project to show my peers and organization so they can give me feedback and let me know if I am going in the right direction with building my course.

The last project in this course was to record a usability video to discuss my user's experience doing an activity from my canvas course. The user explained in a video how they could navigate and engage in a short activity. I then made a video on what I learned from them and how I can improve my course in the future when building it entirely out.

Teacher on Board

As I reflect on this course, I have learned about the instructional design process and how I can ensure I am designing effective learning material in a significant learning environment. It is essential to get early implementation and user feedback in building out a course from your peers and students because it gives you a chance to get real experience from the user so that you can improve or change things that might be missing from the learning environment. Instructional design is vital to building a course because it ensures students learn efficiently by creating high-quality learning materials that consider students' strengths and weaknesses.
