EDLD 5315: Assess Digital Learning
This course has taught me how to write a research outline and execute an action research plan in the education field. Blended Learning has always been my focus since I started this EDLD program. My innovation plan discusses the importance of building a blended learning culture in elementary classrooms. My students are very important to me and I know that as a teacher I need to use any available learning methods and tools to give them the best education possible. As part of this course, I had to understand how doing an action research can be applied to measuring instructional methods which lead me to write a research outline.
My research outline consist of topic of your action research, purpose of your study, fundamental research question, research design, Qualitative, quantitative both (mixed-methods), appropriate type of data to collect, types of measurement instruments and a literature review.
After writing out my Action Research outline, it was time for me to write a literature review to support my advocating for Blended Learning in elementary classrooms. This assignment let me provide literature evidence to support my innovation plan towards building a Blended Learning culture in elementary classrooms. There is not a lot of extensive research being conducted regarding Blended Learning in elementary classrooms since the topic is some what new to the education research community. However, the information I did find showed positive results and student outcomes with using Blended Learning in elementary classroom.
After the literature review, it gave me the ability to write my Action Research Plan. My action research plan is very detailed. I started off with my research outline which gives guidance to my final action research plan. I also included my literature review to support my plan which makes it stronger when I present my innovation plan to my teachers, students, parents and administrators.
This course has shown me how to be a professional in education who can research information to support my innovation plan. The research found gave me evidence that shown the effectiveness of Blended Learning models that will help facilitate learning among students. The research outline made me understand the process of building out an action research plan. The literature review let me know that I was not alone in my passion to use Blended Learning in elementary classrooms. I found several academic research articles that support Blended Learning and provided many positive studies. By taking this course, it furthers my passion for Blended Learning. I support blended learning and have explained its need in our elementary classroom learning environment, curriculum, and culture.
